Privacy Policy
What we collect, why, and how quickly we delete it. GDPR-compliant by design.
1. Who controls your data
AssignWise ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through assignwise.co.uk and in the course of providing our services. You can contact us about anything in this policy via our contact page.
2. What we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, and (if you choose to share it) phone/WhatsApp number.
- Order information: service requested, word count, deadline, academic level, subject area and any notes you provide.
- Your documents: the files you send us for editing, review or feedback.
- Payment data: processed by our payment provider; we never see or store full card details.
- Technical data: basic server logs (IP address, browser type) needed to keep the site secure. This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
3. How we use it
- To prepare quotes, deliver orders and provide customer support.
- To match your document with an appropriately qualified editor.
- To meet legal, accounting and tax obligations.
- With your consent only: to send occasional service updates. You can opt out at any time.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing. We do not use your documents to train AI models.
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
- Contract: processing needed to quote for and deliver the services you ask for.
- Legitimate interests: keeping our systems secure and improving our services.
- Legal obligation: records we must keep for tax and accounting.
- Consent: optional marketing communications, which you can withdraw at any time.
5. Who sees your data
- Your document is visible only to your assigned editor(s) and, for dissertation and thesis orders, a senior quality editor.
- We use a small number of processors (payment processing, email delivery, secure file storage) bound by data-processing agreements. A current list is available on request.
6. Retention and deletion
- Documents: permanently deleted from our systems 30 days after delivery.
- Order and contact records: kept for up to 6 years where required for tax and accounting purposes, then deleted.
- You may ask us to delete your personal data earlier (see Your rights, below); we will do so unless a legal obligation requires retention.
7. Security
Files are stored with encryption at rest and in transit, access is limited to staff who need it for your order, and all editors are bound by confidentiality obligations. No system is perfectly secure, but we maintain safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of academic documents.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data;
- Request deletion ("erasure");
- Restrict or object to processing;
- Data portability;
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent).
To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the contact page. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
9. International transfers
Your data is processed and stored within the UK/EEA wherever possible. Where a processor operates outside the UK/EEA, transfers are protected by adequacy regulations or UK-approved contractual safeguards.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time; the latest version is always on this page with its revision date. Material changes affecting existing orders will be communicated by email.
